The Hunger Games

Alright, I've gotten addicted to the books like everyone else (working on the third one at the moment), but the movie was beyond amazing! I went and saw it Thursday at midnight with my friend Jillian, and it turns out half of Regent was at the same theatre. They actually dedicated an entire AMC, all 20 theatres, to the midnight premier. So cool! I was glued to the screen the whole time and impressed by the risks they took as far as filmmaking goes. Afterwards, Jillian and I got an early breakfast at IHOP and talked. Great night.
Jillian!

Ya, I'm a nerd.

8

Regent announced last week that 8 of our most cherished professors will not be rehired next year. This is a huge blow to the undergrad program and it is causing quite a stir. The most disheartening thing is that the administration has given absolutely no reasons why these specific professors were let go. It was a poorly handled situation and the students are deeply disappointed. But I'm impressed with how everyone (for the most part) has been handling it in a Christ-like way by showing our love for these teachers that have impacted us both in and out of the classroom. Students love Regent and we are taking the stand to do what the school teaches us and act as Christian leaders to change the world...or our campus for now. Please bathe this in prayer and check out the website created by students. God is in control.

Snow, snow, SNOW!

Okay, so it only snowed for a few hours on Saturday night, but still awesome! I hope it snows more so I can play in it. It's certainly cold enough :)

Valentine Social

So today, all the girl life groups combined to have a Valentine's Day dessert social! It was such a great time of fellowship and I'm so happy that we had a good turnout. Here are some photos of the afternoon. By the way, sorry I don't blog as consistently as I have in the past. It's partially because of busyness and partially because I don't have particularly interesting news.

Two of my life group girlys! Love them :)

Treats galore!

Two stellar life group leaders
Speaking of life group, I led solo for the first time this week and God really blessed it! I was so encouraged by the discussion about God's purpose for each of us, and they taught me a lot. I love life group :)

Turning 24

Sorry I have slacked on the posts since I returned to Regent. It's been a great kickoff to my last semester though. Hard to believe I graduate in 102 days! Crazy! God has put some amazing projects in my path and cool things are happening financially as well. So much to be thankful for.

But I would love to fill you in on my birthday! And my last one as Miss Malone! I stayed up until midnight so I could open the birthday package from Kelli that came earlier that day. Friday morning was pretty relaxing and quiet. I exercised to counteract all the sugar that was sure to be in my system by the evening. In fact, I baked some blondies myself to help the process along. I also got to talk to my family which was wonderful.

My friend Rachel said that she would come get me at 4 and we would go out. About 3:50 Sarah said she was going to walk around campus and I asked to join. Turns out I wasn't supposed to. You'll see why. After a short walk, Rachel called and we headed back to the commons so she could come get me. She asked me to meet her at the back door, which is unusual. And Sarah followed me back down stairs, also unusual. As I saw Rachel through the door window, I saw a flash of auburn hair duck down and hide. I opened the door to 8 of my lady friends exploding into a very amusing chorus of happy birthday! It was awesome. Along with that, Rachel baked me 2 dozen cupcakes (which I am still attempting to give away so Sarah and I stop eating them!). Delish! Rachel and I proceeded to go on an adventure after that. Such a lovely birthday in Virginia!

OTIS

Last night Regent had their annual OTIS Film Festival to celebrate a select number of student films. Any current student could submit theirs but only 10 were chosen to be screened...and mine was one of them!!! I was shocked! Then again, I wasn't because this is God's film and I knew he wanted it to be seen by a lot of people. My film for my recent producing class focuses on a girl's struggle with pornography. It was such an honor to have it screened in the main theatre and hopefully impact people for good.

So this event is basically the Regent version of the Oscars. We dress up super fancy, winners of categories get little golden man statues, and we had an after party with professional photographers making us feel like Hollywood celebs. It was great to get such encouraging feedback from my peers and see their films as well. Such a great night! Didn't want it to end.
