Daffodils

Spring is trying its best to show, and two days ago, we enjoyed an 82 degree sunny day! It was absolutely an outside day so I grabbed a textbook and headed to a grassy area at the heart of campus to read. I've missed being fully submerged in creation, but I found a spot with a good amount of trees and enjoyed the feeling of grass on my bare feet. There are also patches of daffodils springing up all over the place which are stunning! The smell alone just makes me refreshed. Mom, I've been thinking of you every time I see them. They make me think of that verse in Matthew 6 that talks about the lilies: "Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these." I just looked around at the birds and remembered how God cares for everything...especially me! It was a much needed soul refreshing as I closed me eyes, listened to the birds, and felt the breeze full of God's presence.

I get so stressed out and busy with school/life that I forget what is important. Yesterday, I had 5 harddrives in my room that aren't mine and was editing 4 different projects at once! Ahhhh! But it's in those times when our dependence on God means the most. I'm learning about priorities daily and how God has to be #1 if I truly desire to live for him.

Well of Blessings

God has been showing his faithfulness so much this week! The other day, it was literally one blessing after another until I went to bed. Answered prayers, incredible filmmaking opportunities, summer job offer, scholarship possibilities, inspiration, an A- in my New Testament class, and new wisdom about the holy spirit. I'm so thankful to be out here on my own, because I rely on God so much more away from the comfort of familiarity and security. I feel like I've grown deeply as a believer since I moved to Regent and I can't wait to continue the journey for the rest of my life! Thank you, Adoni.

North Carolina Adventure

Over spring break, a few of us took a trip down to NC to visit the Wright Brothers museum at Kitty Hawk and go to the outer banks (sand dunes that overlook the ocean). North Carolina is only about 20 minutes away from Regent. We had a blast! Dance parties in the car to pop songs and Disney, running around the Wright memorial taking pictures, a picnic lunch, going into fun kite stores and trinket shops, getting Starbucks, and just being silly.

The outer banks are incredible. You feel like you are in the Sahara desert because all you see is sand and sky. And the sand is the softest I've ever felt. In some places, it was so packed you barely made footprints. And we also experienced "the brew through." It's a drive in liquor store! Apparently, they are popular in the area (since there isn't much to do in NC, pretty rural) and you just drive your car through and get drinks. Of course we got sodas, but there were so many boxes of alcohol in there! Later that night, we drove to Newport News to have dinner with Erica's family. I hadn't seen them since Thanksgiving, so that was a treat. Enjoy these pics!

Best photo of the trip! I'm on the far right.

We couldn't resist posing with the statues :)
We can fly! I love adventures with these girls.
Beauty of the outer banks.

Being an Extra

So, this month I've gotten some cool opportunities to be on the other side of the camera. In the first one, I joined about 15 other extras and we created this epic fight scene. Basically, it is supposed to be an utterly ridiculous battle between janitors and agents. It was great because we actually learned how to do some stunt fighting and make things that are safe look realistic. At the end, all us bad guys were strewn dead on the floor impaled by brooms, mops, and other cleaning items. My friend Ruth and I got to beat up on this guy, and it was hilarious because he is actually a retired swat cop! Ha!

On another shoot, my friend Rachel and I got to be baristas at a coffee shop. Rachel actually works there and it was fun to pretend like I knew all about coffee :) We were there from 6 PM - 4 AM, but it was so fun and I can't wait to see it! And it was a great bonding time with Rachel.

We look legit!

Behind the Scenes at CBN

My friend Ryan, who is in my cinematography class, runs the audio over at CBN. For those of you who don't know, CBN (Christian Broadcast Network) is on Regent's campus. So he invited Rachel and I to come and show us around and watch the 700 Club from the control room! I really enjoyed seeing the other side of television. Live TV is a stressful world! If you watch the 700 Club, they will have short shots of the control room and that's where we were. Ryan taught us a lot about audio stuff as he controlled everything from the board and mixed the mics and music.

There was even an interview with a guy who was on Survivor Samoa today. After the show, Ryan took us around and introduced us to tons of people. The director, the producer, the editors, the co-anchor of 700 Club, and even Pat Robertson! He's such a nice man and he asked us about our majors. When Ryan took us to the audio and editing suites, one of the editors even invited me back to watch him edit! Ahhh! And we also got to go where few people are invited...Pat's office! A lady asked if we wanted to see it and it was so fancy! Even Ryan, who has been working there for 7 years, had never been inside. I felt like VIP. Everyone was so great and welcoming. I think I'll see if I can do my internship over there in the fall. God is so good to give me connections in the industry already.

Me, Rachel, and Pat Robertson himself!
