Showcase

The Regent Spring Showcase highlights the best student films of the year/semester as chosen by the faculty. I was so proud of my fellow CTV students as I marveled at the talent in this school. It's going to be fun to see where everyone ends up. I got so many compliments on my editing for Zipper Heads and the audience was very compelled by the story. Such a great night with my peers.

Zipper Heads received a special award!
Me and Rachel
Nyckole produced and directed Zipper Heads

Last Set at Regent

Here's a crew shot from the last student film I shall ever crew on at Regent. I was the 1st AD (assistant director). It was a great set! We went to a gym with a boxing ring the first day.

Showcase

Okay, I'm so excited right now because I just got an email that announced what films are being screened at Regent's annual Spring Showcase. Basically, it's like the OTIS was but for this semester. It's a compilation of the best student films submitted. And at the very bottom of the list is ZIPPER HEADS!!! For those of you who don't know, this is a 10 minute documentary I edited last semester. So encouraging! We put a ton of work into that and it has paid off. Furthermore, if your film wins an award for best "fill in the blank," the school sends it along to festivals. The possibilities are endless!

The Hunger Games

Alright, I've gotten addicted to the books like everyone else (working on the third one at the moment), but the movie was beyond amazing! I went and saw it Thursday at midnight with my friend Jillian, and it turns out half of Regent was at the same theatre. They actually dedicated an entire AMC, all 20 theatres, to the midnight premier. So cool! I was glued to the screen the whole time and impressed by the risks they took as far as filmmaking goes. Afterwards, Jillian and I got an early breakfast at IHOP and talked. Great night.
Jillian!

Ya, I'm a nerd.

8

Regent announced last week that 8 of our most cherished professors will not be rehired next year. This is a huge blow to the undergrad program and it is causing quite a stir. The most disheartening thing is that the administration has given absolutely no reasons why these specific professors were let go. It was a poorly handled situation and the students are deeply disappointed. But I'm impressed with how everyone (for the most part) has been handling it in a Christ-like way by showing our love for these teachers that have impacted us both in and out of the classroom. Students love Regent and we are taking the stand to do what the school teaches us and act as Christian leaders to change the world...or our campus for now. Please bathe this in prayer and check out the website created by students. God is in control.
